Nixon's head was stuck in a carpenter's vise.
In his room, there was a little window - up high - that he could not close. The window was called a "fortochka." In winter the draft was fierce. Visitors said helpfully, "You've got an open fortochka." Nixon said, "I know."
In the theater, a gent turned around to ask Nixon, "Am I blocking your line of sight?" Nixon said, "I can see right through you." The gent replied, "Most people can."
