Fire and rain.

Fire broke out above San Remo on Cortelyou Road in the middle of the afternoon.

In the library across the street, a man muttered, "The rain will put it out, why waste water." People turned to stare at him. "You know people around here set fires all the time to collect insurance," he said, "and anyway the rain will put it out."
